I think it takes more than post-season play to bring a kid to actually leave, considering that you've given him 10 mpg for that many games. My sample size is pretty small, however.

Last year I promised 2 freshmen playing time in order to convince them to sign.  I figured there were plenty of minutes to go around, so why not?

But in actual practice, it was hard to fit my SF into the rotation for that many minutes without shorting my senior SF who deserved the time.  The freshman whined and grumbled a bit and his WE fell, but once I reshuffled the minutes around he recovered nicely.  The danger period didn't last all that long, so my thinking is that if he starts to complain you'll have opportunities to remedy before he actually quits.

I won't be promising minutes like that again unless a recruit I need absolutely demands it in order to sign.  It can be harder to fulfill the promises than one might think before you see the team taking the floor.

I've been able to skate by with a couple minutes under my promise on like 99% of my promises (regardless of the minute amount) so you're more than safe IMO

CS told me that if you haven't gotten any complaints from the player about playing time by Final Grades, he won't leave.
