I have to agree with al on this one.  Sometimes there are so few recruits that I really want, that if I excluded any because of their high school iq there wouldn't be much to pick from.   I ignore that factor and just put them on the bench till it builds up.   With that being said, I DO look at iq's for transfers.  One or two year players aren't around long enough to go from an F to an A.

What about Ineligible players?  Do you recruit them and give them lots of SH to get them eligible?

I recruit ineligibles at the DIII level. They can come in and contribute, especially if they are DII caliber players that you have pulled down.

What practice time would you focus on to increase Def ratings?

at d3, ineligibles can play right away. still, give them good SH minutes to make sure they don't become ineligible (getting below a 2.0 will still make them stop playing). and d2/d1, you cannot get an ineligible to play until the second season.

footwork, which also contributes in some way to sb and lp

How do you minimize your fouls?  I was tied with 7seconds left in the game and lost on a free throw for a foul committed.  Is this just a result of having 12 new players on my team with a very poor IQ?

By improving your Defensive IQ by increasing Team Practice minutes for Defense and by improving your Individual Player Ratings by increasing Individual Practice minutes for Footwork and Conditioning.

If you're signing 9 players I would probably base my O/D on what their IQs look like after signing.  Say, if all 9 of your recruits come in with M2M experience, I would switch to M2M.
+1

That said, I wouldn't suggest recruiting players based on the system they've run. In your position just go after the best players you can get with a LOT of attention paid to ath. & speed. You get a DIII team with a lot of good athletes w/speed and you can compete day in & day out. Makes the game a lot more fun. One more thing...get ready for an awesome ride!
