FA freeze before Rule 5 Topic

I think the free agent signings should freeze the cycle before rosters are locked for the Rule 5.  Because if they sign at the same cycle, you can't assign/protect them and they'll get scooped up in the R5.

Any FA's signed in the 24 hour period before the R5 freeze are automatically protected.  As are players acquired via trade.

This. However, it is being used by some as a way to game the system with re: to 40-Man Rosters.
