RSing a player at small WE drop Topic

I've got a player who would be absolutely buried on the depth chart this year and not a lot of other great options for redshirtable players.  He has, however, gotten slightly ****** about taking the RS... but only slightly, as his WE dropped from 72 to 58.

I think that if take off the RS and sit him in the second exhibition, he'll take it the second time.

But is that a risk worth taking?

That's a not a bad WE.   I've never left a RS on but that would be tempting.

i have left them on before, and would recommend it. the risk that he'll later say no is too high in that case.

Id leavie it if you try again it will drop more

Definitely just leave it on. Every now and then if you keep trying he'll eventually accept it without a WE hit, but usually his WE will drop more and more, and a WE of 58 is not bad at all.

Not necessarily - I did this last year when a WE dropped from 54 to 36, and it stayed at 54 the second time.

I chose to leave it on.

Ive never had that happen at any level.  Just my luck I guess.

I believe each time you attempt to redshirt and the player doesn't like it, the WE will drop more than it had dropped after the previous redshirt attempt.

But like others have said, there is a chance he'll eventually accept the redshirt which will result in no WE drop.  Or it could be a 1.

Keep the RS on. You should be so lucky as to not have it go down too far. Recently I made a mistake in doing what you're just talking about. I had a guy go from a 70 to 50, took it off, put it on and it dropped to 20. Did it again dropped to a 1.

Take the RS off to get the WE back and than bench him for the 1st exhibition game, i.e. don't put him anywhere in the Depth Chart rotation, and than try it again the next morning. I've done that trick and it's worked for me.

A Work Ethic drop from 72 to 58 is nothing, especially if it gets you an extra seasons worth of improvements (ratings and IQ's).  I'd leave it alone......

Read the original post.  I did that already.

typo on my part. I meant do exactly that for the 2nd game and see if he'll take it the second time around. If not it will come down to whether the WE drop is small enough for you to say the heck with it and leave him Red Shirted or not.
