Question: 3 Times arbed Topic

If you trade a player that will NOT re-sign with you because you sent him to arbitration three times. Will he re-sign with the club you trade him to?

In all seriousness: Maybe.

If he's a player who's likely to test FA anyway, probably not... but if he's just ****** that you lowballed (and won) 2 or 3 times, then perhaps he will be more open to signing with another team.

Ok, so he could potentially sign with the new team?  It's not SET in stone that he will absolutely not sign LT with the new team?

I've never seen it first hand, but I believe it has been known to happen.

Do you feel it is something you should tell the person you're trading with? Or should they do enough research themselves to see his contract and how he has been signed?

It's not like it's a secret, the other team just needs to glance at his contract history for 2 seconds. I wouldn't start warning the other team about how this guy is injured all the time or alert him to his low durability or point out that he's wildly inconsistent, so why would I warn him about his contract? Buyer beware.

Yeah someone asked me if I mentioned it and I responded the same way.. If the player was researched enough before they accepted the trade then they would know what they were getting. Either way, The guy is a for sure Type A FA next season and he gets over half a season with him to help him get to the playoffs or further..

I see no reason to tell the person you are trading with that the guy he is getting who is in the last year of his contract may not re-sign next season. if they are too dumb to know that, that is their loss. If they are smart, they will agree to a deal only if it is a sign and trade, or discount what they are offering knowing they will lose the guy after this year.

Depends on the world.   In a world of experienced owners, they should know.  If they don't, their bad.   If you're dealing with a n00b, it's on par with trading them some 82 overall with 38 control for a 62 overall catcher who mashes.

I traded with someone who knows what they are doing or should so we're good then. 15 seasons classifies an owner not as a noob to me..

I've traded for a guy who was arbed three times, and he extended with me.  Note the wicked high patience rating:  Mercado

It's nice to see some response on the topic... I am the other coach involved in the trade at hand. He said he is open to resigning but wants to see what FA offers... I made sure and got a prospect in the deal as well in case he didn't sign so I would take a prospect ad a draft pick to compensate. Only time will tell, but he will bolster my staff for a playoff run.
