Just drafted this guy:

<a style="color:black;" href="http://www.whatifsports.com/hbd/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx?pid=3881619" target="_blank">Cy Springer</a>

He's 22, with a current stamina of 100.  He could be a pretty decent pitcher if he can get about 15-20 points in the major categories.

Currently, I have a pretty good rookie league pitching coach and good High A pitching coach.  My Low A coach is not good.

I was thinking about starting him in High A, but I don't know if that hurt him in the short-term, although he is 22 already.

Any thoughts on where I should start him, and when to promote to best maximize his increases?

I wouldn't think there would be any problem putting a 22 year old in High A, especially if he is talented enough that you think he might be in the big leagues in 3 years or so.

That's kind of what I was thinking, but to be effective he really needs to maximize his potential.  Hopefully it works.  Thanks!

He should definitely be in HiA right now. But he gets much of his value for that 100 STA. While I can't see his projections, his pitches don't look like they are going to be anything special, neither do his splits. He'll be an innings eater, but I would have hoped to do better with the 5th pick.

Me too.  There were four guys picked between 6-19 who I didn't see who I would have rather had.  The four guys ahead were better.  The guys after were worse.  A lot of 70-77 rated players in the draft, but no special talent except the first pick.  Trust me, I wasn't happy with the way it turned out, either.

That said, I have some really good talent, but most of those guys are 70-ish stamina guys, so I cuold definitely use a back-end starter to eat innings and hopefully save my bullpen.
