I won my first national tourney game this season, and it really made me happy (I know, not a big accomplishment, but I am still proud of myself). My squad is a B- right now, and I hope this season pumps me up to a B because I heard that is a good time to start trying to pulldown players from D-II. Now, I've never really tried this so I don't really know what my limitations are.

I found a guy with very solid cores but a low overall rating (as in, they are some high school guys in my pool already with a higher overall). I understand that means nothing in the big picture, but it makes me feel a little better about my chances. Do you think I have any chance of landing him?

Sorry for the lack of info I'm giving. I didn't want to post all his ratings or name, seems like that would be stupid.

I pulled down some very good players at C+ and C. Definitely start pulling down asap

Basically I got to A- by pulling down when I was at C

Well that makes me feel a little bit better. Thanks, I'll definatley go after the guy.

vandy, make sure you do one phone call to the recruit first - that will tell you if he's someone you can pull down or if you have no shot. Weena did a fantastic job explaining how to pull recruits down on this thread: http://whatifsports.com/forums/Posts.aspx?TopicID=427683&TopicsTimeframe=30

congrats on your first NT game win vandy! that is a big step in any coaches career. there is a big difference between making the NT (which people luck into all the time) and actually proving you should have been there.

edit: and definitely go for the pulldown - pulldowns should be used at all prestige ranges.

when i first started out, i mistakenly waited til i was a b- to try and pull recruits down. what actually happened is i kept getting promoted to where i was at D1 before i even tried pulldowns, so i was way behind the learning curve there.

Recruiting is tomorrow for me. I'm a B+ now so I should have a decent shot at this (based on what the comments are saying).

From a vandy grad, if you are going to have vandy in your name please check your spelling when you post. It is definitely.
