If you accept a Rule 5 player back into your organization (Rule 5 returnee) after another club doesn't want him, are you required to put him on the major league roster or can you assign him to any minor league level?  And I take it you do have to pay him the major league minimum though.

If he's cleared waivers and you accept him back, he loses his R5 status and you can do anything you want with him.

You are stuck with his ML salary.  Though I believe if he was never assigned by the team that drafted him, he may revert back to minor league salary.  I seem to recall that from somewhere.

I think he stays at the ML minimum for the year, but if he's in the MiL the following season, his salary will then revert to an MiL level.
