I was quoting MikeT23. Take your "exact" argument up with him.

However, if you read the FAQ, played several seasons, looked at who gets nominated, and are still confused by the process, then I can't help you.

I never said I was confused by the process, nor do I want or need your help.  Where are you getting that from?

I just said that the process appears to be flawed and occasionally produces bizarre results.

Based on comments I commonly see in just about every world I've played in, both at All-Star and award nomination time, I'm not alone in this opinion.

"The awards nomination process is flawed.  Everybody knows that.  Just like All-Star nominations are.  I assume the engine uses pretty much the same bizarre logic for both."

This sounds like someone who is confused by the process.  But I accept that you may have just misspoke.

And I've seen comments about the nomination process often as well....usually followed by someone explaining the key stats and/or pointing out the FAQ.

From the "Beating a dead horse" category:

All-Star break in Mantle.  My DH Leo Strong gets selected over Ray Hartley.  Strong  is having a nice season, but I would think that Hartley should have received the nod.  Since they're both DH's, defense should not come into play (though Hartley has had some PT with a glove this season).

I would think Hartley's huge lead in OPS should trump Strong's better OBP.  Seems a bizarre selection to me.

Interesting case.

All-Star qualifications for DH:  runs created per 27 innings, plate appearances, team winning percentage

RC/27 and plate appearances are really close, so it comes down to winning percentage of the teams.  Strong's team has a huge advantage over Hartley's team.

Where the heck are you getting "winning percentage of the team" from?

My bad.  I thought you had actually read the stuff you were criticizing.  From the FAQ:

"What are the qualifications for the All Star team?

The qualifications closely mirror those of the end of the season player awards. The following criteria is used: SP - innings pitched, earned runs, strikeouts, shutouts, wins, and losses RP - innings pitched, earned runs, strikeouts, saves, wins, losses 1B/2B/3B/SS/LF/CF/RF - runs created, good plays, poor plays, errors, team winning percentage DH - runs created per 27 innings, plate appearances, team winning percentage C - runs created, good plays, poor plays, errors, passed balls, team winning percentage."

Didn't see that.  But it seems pretty strange that a DH with better overall stats gets snubbed in favor of another DH for the mere reason that the second guy plays for a better team.  All-Star selections should be recognizing players for their performance, not because of the teams they play on.

Hey guys, I haven't read this whole thread so I don't know if this has already been talked about.... but along the lines of award shares, how about listing the number of times a player led his league in certain statistical categories?  Or if the player ranks in the top 5 all time in one of those categories (say, 3rd all time in batting average) it would list that too?

ADMIN said that can't do that, using the "too much stress on the servers" idea.

But I would think that it would be nice to see the league leader in a certain category being listed in the "Awards" tab for the player's card.
