A player I really like dropped down to me this afternoon, but he's already considering a human coached team. This is a four year player, so he wasn't considering him before recruiting started. Is there any chance that I can land this guy? Maybe the other team never actually offered a scholarship but is on the considering list?

They drop down regardless of whether a school is on them or not, I'm pretty sure. It depends on budget, prestige, and distance like always. Check future stars to see if he is open to other offers or solid.

out of curiosity, whats the standard protocol on this sort of stuff. if a guy pulls down a player that you wanted early, you pass on pulling him down, and then he drops down the cycle or 2 before signing, is he fair game. Or is this dirty poaching behavior, and the other coach is justified in poaching u right back next go round?

I did offer a scholarship. Not sure if I'm going to pursue him or not. Not in any way involved in anything dirty, the guy just asked a question and I answered.

until a player is signed he is fair game for recruiting. There is no poaching, drafting, lottery or anything else for recruits other than if you have the money and the desire recruit him.  If someone targets a recruit that is considering you, respond however you see fit within the rules...

I should have mentioned in my first post that I am DIII and the other team involved is DII, which is why I was confused about his dropping down to me
