Adding yrs to contract ? Topic

I have a stud pitcher who is 30 years old and in his last year of arb. The final year of arb is 13.7 mil or long term is 8.25 for 3 yrs. I want to lock him up this year but I want it to be a 5 yr deal. What is your guys experience on doing this? Do I add years 4 & 5 at 8.25? Up the whole contract to 9's across the board for 5yrs? Will he even let me do the two extra years? Don't know what to do and don't want to **** him of if that's even possible.

Just add two more years at the salary he requested and he should accept.  I do this all the time for good players.

I knew adding a year was no big deal but two considering his age I thought would be a problem.

Consider his makeup, health and durability.

Older players won't accept "excessive" long-term deals.   It's so owners can't destroy a team.   30 y/o does not fall into that category.
