If I accept a Rule 5 Offerback, and assign the player to the minor leagues am I still on th ehook for his ML salary?

I know it used to be that way, but was hoping it was changed in a recent update.

Its not a big deal either way, but a liitle iritating when you lose a few MiLers that filled some hard to find positions, but aren't worth a combined $900K+ to accept back and reassign.

If you accept the player back, you have to pay their ML salary.

If they have MiL options, you can put them back in the MiL, but you still have to pay the ML salary.

If you put a Rule 5 eligible player on your 40-man, you can't lose him.  Then you won't ever have to make this decision.

Now that WIS has made it so top prospects are automatically protected, preventing new owners and owners who are away for a few days from losing their best prospects, the Rule 5 draft seems to be a very good equalizer that somewhat narrows the gap between the better owners and the rest.

For most worlds, this seems to be a good thing.  Helps keeps worlds more competitive.

Thanks tufft.

In the veteran worlds I've played in, real good MLers are few and far between in the Rule 5 draft. Usually you'll see a few defensive Cs, SSs and CFs, and a few RPs. But mostly its a way to borrow a few players for the first 22 days or so until your AAA rookie callups arrive. Most rule 5 guys get waived or oferred back and someone else pays their $327K, or they clear and you have an expensive AAA player.

I had 10 or 11 Rule 5 guys last season in Addicted Users and 5 this season, most of which are at least replacement level. Rule 5 is a good way to pick up backups and relievers IMO.
