No offense, but this is just a terrible idea.

It's not a terrible idea, and it might be of interest to some coaches, but it doesn't appeal to me.

So after putting in hundreds of dollars and untold amounts of time to play the game, you become forced to quit. Terrible idea.

this has been discussed before - i think it's a good idea but i would only work if you implemented it in a new world where it was a rule from day one...going into an existing world and adding this rule would be unfair...i think in a world where it was a rule from day one, it would add a fun layer - records, streaks and overall wins for coaching careers would have a lot more meaning over time...it would be nice to see schools open up that otherwise remain unavailable for way too long.

I think you could tweak the idea. Instead of forced retirement from the world, you could go with forced retirement from a program say after maybe 15 seasons. Maybe it's a new AD that wants his own coach or you get an offer too good to pass up from another program, that type of thing.

For this to be implemented the seasons would need to be sped up, not to the tune of 2 a day, but similar to nba live, where you can essentially sim a season and watch it unfold in front of you. It might work if we recruited, set line ups etc. and  then watched things play out until the postseason, where we can  really coach when it matters. But for the prices per season, we would have to change that, and start a completely different world with different specs and so on. I wouldnt want to spend the time or cash for 50 seasons and then have it elliminated just like that. An interesting idea to see who really is a good coach, and not just reaping the benefits of having played more seasons. As far as dream jobs go, send a ticket to wis. Once you have a dream job and continue to enjoy the game, why let it go? After  all nobody ever gets fired.

Highly unlikely many people would reach 50 seasons, that's something like 5 years real time.

The notion that the Kentuckys and other common dream jobs never open up, that's just off.  They're available more often than you think.

I don't think it'd be good for the game.

What's my inspiration as a coach in seasons 48, 49, and 50 to recruit? I know I won't be around for the senior seasons of any freshmen I bring in...any planning I do "longterm" is only reaping rewards for someone who comes along after me. I'll throw all my recruiting money at a small number of stud players in the hope I get them and can use them to take me over the top right now. If i miss and have to talk walkons or last-day signing dregs..meh...who cares, I'm being forced to retire in 1-3 seasons, let someone else pick up the pieces. If the program falls too far toward Season 50, it'll just be ghost-shipped.

Not saying it's right, but I'm pretty sure that would be the overwhelming mentality if something like this were implemented.

It's a terrible idea. Not only is it a bad idea on its face -- who wants to be forced out? -- but it's an even worse idea considering they need to concentrate on filling the worlds they already have and not diluting them further.
