The challenge: take Cal. Tech to the 2nd round of the NT in year 5 or later (5th season being the coach)

The catch: you can only recruit players with 3.9 or higher HS GPA and all players must have a cumulative 3.5 or above when the challenge is completed

The prize: mad props from me...ok maybe a real prize that can be negotiated

Might be tough given that there are less than 50 recruits at 3.9 or higher in all divisions of Naismith

I coach Cal. Tech in Tark. There are only 2 possible recruits over a 3.9 gpa within 300 miles of Cal Tech. (a DII guy with a 1 in defense and a DIII guy who would be worthless.

I'm hoping a CalTech is open- looks like the guy in Phelan is either very bad- or abandoned... but may have a 5 season pack.  We'll see, something to do on the side.

Edit:  Don't think this is even feasible to field a team- from my DII team in Tark, there are 0 DIII players with a GPA above 3.75...

That fact alone is a bit troublesome. Not a single student-athlete at D3 can come in with a 4.0? a 3.9? I'd noticed after the engine switchover that the average GPA of the recruits I was bringing in at D3 seemed to have dropped, but to not have a single one above 3.75 seems extreme and out of whack.

(and, honestly, I can't remember when the last time I found a recruit with even a 3.5 HS GPA to try and grab...)
