Effective SF at D1? Topic

Would my C Gilberto Romano be effective in a 2-3 zone as a Small Forward in a low-level D1 conference?  I think he could be, but this might just be one of those things I've talked myself into.  He's got passable speed, below average BH/P, and no PER, but he does have great LP, ath and REB.  If we wanted to go really big, couldn't I put him at SF and have three great rebounders out there?  If I'm crazy, please let me know now haha.

He also has very good ATH and great DEF. I would definitely do it in D11, where I am now. The only thing I see as a slight problem might be his low passing for a Triangle team. If you have great guards, by all means give it a shot and see how it plays out. At worst you drop him to 2nd string SF and outmatch your opponent on 2nd string.

I'd prefer better BH/Pa for a D1 SF but defensively he'll be find and will provide a boost rebounding on both sides, however he could end up being a bit turnover prone.

i don't like this move at all. could he play sf adequately? yes. but, more often then not he won't dominate the position, outside of rebounding. he is clearly your best big man and will face less ath/spd talent at the pf or c spot. moving romano to sf will actually devalue him.

I think he could play there, probably effectively enough although I'd like it a lot more if his FT shooting was higher. I don't know what you gain over Vedder this way though, in overall performance, and meanwhile this would weaken your frontcourt. I'd continue to play him at the 4 with Abdeldayen at the 5 and Vedder at 3.

I was only thinking about this because if I won my CT and made the NT as a 14 seed or something, I might've done something crazy to try for an upset.  I didn't get there though so unless I feel like screwing around in the PI, it probably won't happen until next year.  He did win CPOY this year, so I'll probably stick with what has been working.
