When bidding on minor league free agents, what is the best way to raise your bid?  You get zapped if you try to increase the yearly salary or give a bonus.  Do you have to extend a Major league contract?  And if you do so, can you still put them in say, AAA, should he sign with you?

If you offer him a BL deal, you pay BL money.    They can be assigned to the minors if they have options.
