What are some of the in season adjustments that some of you guys make during a season.  I know that certain areas of the game should be learned by trial and error and if this is one of them let me know (not trying to steal anything from anyone so if i'm outta line just let me know).  There is one area I am interested in hearing some feedback in and thats pitching.  For example one league i'm in I have a lot of my RP who I use on a fairly reg basis bc I have had success with them over the course of several seasons and several different type of leagues are getting lit up (99 Wagner-6.23, 18 Fred Toney 6.25, 89 Eck 6.17, 18 Jake Northrop 7.88 and 08 Joey Devine 7.36).  It's on the early side but all of them still each have over 15 IP and my team is actually 30-16.  So I was wondering what kinda adjustments could be made.  I just lowered their pitches by 5 and upped their pull by 1 each.  Could anything else be done.....thanx for any feedback.

In that Theme League your relievers are probably aren't doing that much worse than the league ave. Look at the line-ups they're facing everyday, really can't expect them to perform like they would in an OL. You could fiddle with the pitch counts and pull settings but I'm not sure how much that would help in this situation. This league is a monster bash.

Yeah, I mean you picked them for certain roles and their skills haven't changed. Some may not be a good fit for the league (facing too many righties, too many HR parks etc) but there is only so much you can do. If guys are genuinely performing better (looking at OAV, BB and HR) then you can swap them into "A" roles - setup A, closer A - while demoting guys who are genuinely performing bad into "B" roles. And you should obviously check their PC settings so they aren't exceeding their IP/G and running into in-game fatigue.

If you have a lot of extra innings you could also raise their auto-rest. I typically put my RPs at 80, but if they throw every game at 80 they won't do as well as they could, so if they're never recovering you may need to let them rest longer.

I just finished a 120M theme league (1947-2010, DH, 6/6 AA AAA, no clones) and the only in-season tinkering I did with my bullpen was on pitch counts and pull settings.  I anticipated them not performing the way some of them did in a 100M season I did, and I was correct ... except '67 Carlos, who was awesome at both caps.  I tried to rest them whenever they dropped to 91 and also kept altering their title (Setup A to Setup B; I never use "Closer").  In addition, I keep track of how many pitches are thrown in each outing and calibrate how many they should throw in a season.  It keeps them fresh all year long.

I might adjust my pull settings slightly, but generally I adjust pitch counts and roles.  I almost always leave my RP autorest at 95 and my set my SP autorest to 99.
