Thanks for the input.  So, it's simply a case of my overvaluing him then.  Which is what I was trying to determine.
Plugging him into my handy-dandy SP evaluator, he's the 9th best option on my 88 game division winner.   And the 14th best option on my 109 game World Series winner.   IOW, he's probably pitching in AAA on both teams.

How would he rank on your sub .500 MG team?

He's asking because he wants to win more than 77 games.   I assume.
This was a good question, actually.   7th.   I guess we've got some explanations.   And a confirmation for me that my handy-dandy SP evaluator has value.

This guy is driving me crazy.  I had him pegged as a star.  Am I wrong that this guy should be a solid 2-3...or is his performance to be expected due to weak post-1 pitch ratings?

Mike, this handy-dandy SP evaluator you speak of...

Sorry, it took me 70+ seasons to get something that matches up pretty well with regards to ratings translating to WHIP/ERA.  Can't give it away.

Control is over evaluated. I had , a few seasons back a 100 control pitcher. He almost never gave up a BB but he had an horrible ERA.

I ahd a pitcher with similar sstats but a 72 control who was doing way better.

You're trying to sell us on the idea that all things being equal, a P with 72 control is better than one with 100?  C'mon...

I'm sure there were several other ratings that made the 72 control P the better option.
