i used to have to post these regularly, i think people were probably getting sick of them. but, by now, i'm sure you all are missing it :)
so, once again, the news of the century - the position you have all been waiting for has opened to public applicants in the greatest d2 conference in history, the mighty GLV of d2 tark! with 7 of the top 11 d2 conf rpis on the all time list, the GLV is not only the game's best ever d2 conference, BUT, there were so many coaches who tried, and tried, and failed to get GLV jobs, that they finally settled in the MIAA, and decided to do everything they could to challenge our dominance, filling their ranks with A class coaches. so, out of the GLV greatness, arose what is currently the second best d2 conference in all of HD - what a rivalry!
i grow tired of telling you all about all seasons when we played each other for championships, when we finished consecutive seasons with the top 3 teams by rpi, and other similarly boring feats. but how about a show that people love the conference? we have had just ONE single sim coached season, by 1 team, when a coach couldn't decide and finally left with no notice, in the last year and a half (about 1 sim coached season out of 200ish). so, you are guaranteed roughly 99.5% of your conference games to be against humans. at least three of us have been there for at least 3 years. we effortlessly attract such talent, we recently lost a great coach, a multiple championship coach, maybe 4 or 5, only to replace him with an 8+ championship coach (i stopped counting, sorry if its 10 now), and since, we have swelled our ranks to *nine* coaches with rings on both hands. yes, this is a d2 conference. we've averaged at least 8 coaches with the golden rings for well over a year now. so, more or less, if you manage to win 8 games in the conference a couple seasons in a row, you are virtually guaranteed to be outperforming your average coach with a few championships.
i mean hell. if you manage to spend 10 seasons to win about 20 total games, land yourself in probation, and don't even win the player - yet love coming back for more - well, then you are brianp. but even then, you still are a championship caliber coach (3, i think). how many guys do you know who are used to winning their conference without even blinking, come to a conference, get pummeled year after year, and are die-hard members?
but really, that is not why you should join the GLV. ok, that last part, yes. but its not because a year and change ago, when we took the #1 spot on the all-time 20 year dynasty list in d2 history by roughly the largest margin held by any conf on any list anywhere, that we continued to break our own record year after year. its because the conference is just awesome. i would have quit this game years ago, even being at my dream school UK, if not for how awesome being in the GLV is. the GLV is the ****. really. so, stop being in whatever conference you are in, because really, you won't miss it for long! come on down to the almighty GLV!!
on a side note, if we get another guy with 2+ rings, is that a record? i mean that would be 10. ive seen elite d1 confs boast they almost filled their entire conf with guys with at least one NC. but what about guys with multiple?
and by the way, we have our long time coach with no titles, he joined as a rookie. i did my best to mentor him along the way, but really, nothing i could do could have convinced him to stay, despite getting beaten down, severely, for so long. i mean literally over an entire year, his dream season was going 7-9 in conf. but, he stuck with it. why? its fun. and a great place to learn. now, this guy has SEVEN winning seasons (in conf) in the last 8 years. its a damn crime he has no rings yet, because hes had the best team in the country at least once, great ones several times, but just has had some god awful NT luck. im sure its because he has never left - and only has one team (WIS doesn't want to waste a NC on a guy only paying them for 1 team!!)
but anyway, you got this guy, who season after season, beats down coach after coach with multiple championships. if he left, his record would probably sky rocket, his seeding would sky rocket, and he would probably rattle off 5 titles in a year. but, hes a true GLVer. born and bread, GLV. from never playing in d2 in his life, to being one of the top coaches in a conf where the worst in the conference usually means you've bested an entire world 3 times. but, he never leaves - never picks up another team. titles, shmitles. they are NOTHING to the awesomeness of being a GLVer. how do i know? well, i speak from experience - our born and bread GLV hero is not the only coach who came in, having never coached a single d2 game, to cut his teeth in the almighty GLV... not the only coach who grew into his own as a loyal GLVer. so, the reason i can say for sure our friend stays because being a GLVer tops winning a couple titles, is because it tops winning 18 titles. true story. doubt me? only one way to know for sure!
