Though if you need them to fill in for rest or injury replacement, you might not find the results too painful over a short period.

It's more of an issue at 2b than 3b, but both definitely see their share of minus plays.

"Left handed shortstop" types (guy that throw left, but have the 4 key defensive ratings in the high 70's or low 80s)  can play 3B about average; their numbers balance out the lefty effect.  I personally think this is unreasonable, that the penalty should be larger; but it isn't, and you can take advantage of that.

You get just slaughtered on DPs if you try a lefty at 2B, though (I've played around with this in the minors).
