Recruiting ... don't do this ... Topic

So I have a recruit considering me after the 2nd cycle .... and only me ... and the signing period comes  ... and he doesn't sign .... but no one else is on him ... I keep just calling him or his coach ... and I'm always number one ... but he doesn't sign ...  and I can't figure it out ... 24 hours passes ..... and i finally the light bulb goes on ... I never offered the scholarship!

Now he has signed ... and yes I'm an idiot.

I've done the same thing, but didn't realize it until recruiting was done. LOL

Two other bonehead moves I've made:

1)  Spending $2,000 on a recruit only to realize my roster was full.

2) Giving up on a battle for a recruit,  pursuing a different player, then having them both sign because I didn't withdraw the scholarship from the first player. That gave me too many guards and kept me from signing a center that season

ive never done the forget to offer scholarship thing. but i definitely have tried to sign players i had no scholarship for, either by hitting the 6 cap, or by filling my team. one time, i battled another guy for a player i didn't have a spot for, and then he signed another player thinking he lost the battle, and so neither of us got him. that was definitely the most retarded of my many retarded moves in recruiting.

Almost #2: Get discouraging messages from my top recruiting target who told me he just couldn't see himself playing for me, yadda yadda.  He was at the upper edge of my ratings range so I ate the $2,000 I'd dumped into him already and went for someone else.

Now, 24 hours after signings begin, the guy is still 'undecided' after most of the other guys on my watch list are actually signed.

I'm tired of spending my meager recruiting budget on a kid who never actually had a chance to go D1 except in his own mind.  It's too bad there's not more clues on a guy like that beyond "You're a backup option" before I send 11 or 12 scouting trips.

Man if I recounted all the mistakes in recruiting and whatnot I've made with this game it'd look like an HD Forum version of  War and Peace  LOL!

The worst I've done is battle for another recruit but forgot to leave $100 for the scholly!

I went after a guy once, had to battle for him. Was leading the whole time. When it came time to signing him I couldn't I already had 6 in that class. The guy that I was battling was now sure to get him right? Nope, it ended up he had the same problem. This was DII and I had about $8k into the guy, Another guy ended up signing him and got a really good player fairly cheap, I would expect, right at the end of recruiting.

Another bad one. I was targeting a Dropdown, with my DIII team, I was sure would talk to me and did not want to lose out on him to someone else, so I sent him 10 scouting trips on the first cycle to hopefully get him to drop to me right away. Ends up he would not even talk to me. At least he was close so I did not waste too much money. The kicker is this, he never ends up considering anyone and goes Juco. So I figured I might have a shot at him as a Soph, but no he still won't talk to me. Strangest thing I have ever seen.
