RE: Recruit quality in IBA.

I'm a decent DII school that normally scours the lower DI recruits and pulls them down. However, after doing my FSS this morning (I hate doing it during the season because then I just look at the recruits over and over and over and over), it sure seems to me that kids who are unranked at their position and listed on my DII search are a heck of a lot better than all the kids ranked in the 100's at their position and in DI.

My top two targets are close by kids from DII. I'm pretty stunned actually.

I thought recruits were supposed to get better across the board?

My recent D II recruiting experience has been very similar. At least the D II recruits I've found were halfway decent, so s'all good.

Yea, it makes very little difference to me. I still end up getting good recruits.

Seems that either A) They screwed up where to place these recruits or B) they improved DII recruits but not DI recruits.

Something else I have noticed, is that it has become increasingly difficult as a DII coach to even get ranked DI players to talk to you. I have a DII A+ prestiege team in Smith that I am recruiting right now and maybe 1 or 2 ranked DI players even gave me the time of day.

Where they get placed has more to do with initial ratings and not so much to do with potential.  So sometimes the lower-level recruits can be better.  I noticed the same thing with my D3 school in Phelan - I'm not sure I'm going to end up bothering pulling anybody down in the recruiting cycle starting today because the D3 recruits are just as good if not better.

Once upon a time it was actually an accomplishment to sign ranked players. We'll all get used to that system again and it'll be the norm instead of feeling like you're settling for weaker recruits.
