I am about to begin season three with a team that I took over that previous owner had set up so that almost all of the best talents arrive at arbitration in the same season (this one).  All but one wants a 3 yr. contract if I negotiate long term.  The cost per year if each of them won their case this season would be about $12 mil.  If signed all of them (and I would want to) they would sign for about $36mil a year.  $36mil a year is not cost probative, but if I am only getting them for 3 seasons is it worth it?  On the face of it I do not see a huge advantage.
