If you remove the redshirt from a player who doesn't want to be redshirted, does his work ethic automatically go back to its original number?

Yes it goes back as if you never applied the rs. If you try to rs him again, we will drop further. For future reference, once player is considering you, send 2-3 home visits with. Inform of redshirt. Will grumble but accept rs.
