I don't think anyone will claim that racking up innings at 0% will mean improvement for your player.

Agreed.  You can't accelerate improvement by overplaying a player.  But you can hurt it but underplaying him.

Yep, agreed.  But, could overplaying a player stunt his development?  I think that's what the OP might be suspecting here.

The development pattern I listed is almost a perfect template for development patterns.  If anything, he developed a little more than I would have projected for this season.

It's possible he developed, but it wasn't enough to bump it to the next number.  So looking at control, maybe when he went from 75 to 76, it was actually 75.2 to 75.7.  Then the next cycle he went from 75.7 to 76.3, but it still shows 76.

But I don't see anything too crazy there.  He hasn't pitched during that period, so slower progression should be expected.

Projections are a best guess.   Just because I say "a little more than I would have projected" doesn't mean I'm right.
