2 good pitches 3 horrible Topic

I dont think I was able to paste the guy correctly, but this guy is projected at 72 stam 96 control 77 L 91 R 801st pitch 87 2nd pitch....but then 35, 48, 28 on pitches 3-5. His makeup projects at 100. Do the 3 horrible pitches make this guy fools gold or is he still worthy of a top 5-10 draft choice.

The latter.  He'll be great.

yeah, hopefully he may even drop that 5th pitch eventually. he probably won't use it much even when it is listed as in his arsenal

In my opinion, you'll need a good pitch calling catcher (80+).
Meaning, you'll see more of a difference with that pitcher than your normal garden variety 80ish/70ish/60ish/50ish/40ish.

PC is just a modifier.  It doesn't make sure the catcher calls the good pitches and not the bad pitches.

Is it better for a pitcher to have 2 really good pitches or 2 really good pitches and 3 mediocre to lousy pitches? Does catcher pitch calling play into this? (csherwood - Hall of Famer - 4:16 PM)

A guy with 2 pitches would typically be a reliever and a guy with 5 is usually a starter. Catcher pitch calling impacts OAV, so a good catcher definitely helps a pitching staff.

Pitches affect OAV. Pitch calling improves OAV. Q.E.D., I stand by my statement.
6/30/2011 3:15 PM
There's nothing in that to indicate that it improves OAV in concert with any other ratings i.e. pitchers' pitches.  If it's a straight modifier that Dev Chat statement is still true, but it doesn't mean that pitch calling will have any more impact on this guy than the "garden variety" guy you mentioned.  Same multiplier, same percentage of impact.

Ok. Let him use a 60 PC...ie. a lower multiplier...on the pitches with the lower multiplier...and have other teams shove it up that pitcher's pooper.

Just saying. If you have a maybe, and that's a maybe, don't make him a probably not.

In my experience, having good pitches is what's important. With those splits and that control, plus two 80+ pitches, he's an all-star.

Just try to convince him not to throw the bad ones.
