I would definitely tend to disagree with this. I have seen many coaches jump from lower prestige schools to Big 6 schools. 

I've seen B's jump to A-'s and plenty of other 2/3 of a letter grade leaps. If I were you, I would wait it out though, because you aren't losing much talent for next season.

Yes, I think you'll be able to move into some sort of BCS school, though one that currently is lower in prestige. If you feel strongly that you can get back into the postseason next year (and/or the team you can qualify for is garbage), I would consider coming back.

That said, the talent level is not great, so if you see an opening that interests you, I wouldn't hesitate to jump.

I'm a big fan of jumping when you can -- you can't predict the future, and the sooner you get into the BCS, the sooner you have a chance at competing for a NC.

I'm not an expert by any means, but I would guess you may be able to jump to one of the lower prestige Big 6 schools that are currently open in Knight (Hawaii, Fresno).  Anything higher probably isn't an option until you make a run in the NT

I took Valpo from a D to a B- in 4 seasons with 3 straight NT berths including a Sweet 16 in year 4.  This offseason I wasn't qualified for anything in the big 6 except the schools that were way down at about C or C+ and had gone 2-25 for the last few years.  Any of the schools with a better prestige (granted there were only 5 that were open) were "not qualified"

we should have a real good team again this season...might be a lot to expect another sweet 16 run (as that took a little good fortune to get there as an 11 seed...beat a team that was 3-0 against the eventual national champs to get there).  i don't know if valpo's prestige would go much higher short of another S16 run, but it will be interesting to see if i'm qualified for the better jobs at that point with 4 NT bids and hopefully another NT win or two under my belt.
