Who to redshirt? Topic

OK, made it thru recruiting now on to the season.  With having only 1 SF, 3 PF, and 2 C, I need to use both freshman PF (one as backup SF and other at backup PF), so....

Need suggestions on who to redshirt:
PG Rittenhouse (So.) (WE 25)
PG Westra (So.) (WE 22)
SG Lisle (So.) (WE 1)

All 3 have low-to-terrible work ethic though and overall ratings are similar to freshman recruits by the look of it, so is it even worth it?  I tried using all 12 players in my first scrimmage and 3rd PG got just 1 min, so looks like using 11 may be ideal for me.  I've read that non-freshman are sometimes difficult to redshirt though, so should I just go with 12 and that last guy will play sparingly?

Absolutely do not redshirt a 1 WE kid.

I'd cut Lisle as soon as possible and hope the other 2 give you something.. all 3 are pretty iffy in my opinion. Ath/def is important, but it's not important enough to sacrifice that much perim, ball handling, and passing. I wouldn't redshirt anybody.

zhawks -- would he wind up losing rating points overall with a WE of 1?

wsut --  I'm just trying to handle the cards I've been dealt.  The only decent sophomore I have is my PF.  Like I said originally, the other sophs are no better than the freshmen  I was just recruiting.  At least I didn't recruit any worse than the coach immediately before me.  I had a lot of leftover recruiting money from the just ended period, so hopefully I can cut Lisle (or one of the iffy PG) next year and get a better player.

EDIT:  BTW, which soph PG is more useable, or sucks less?

Yes you will be lucky to see any improvement over his four years, and most likely he will lose anything (and maybe more) that he gained in season in the offseason.

Usually I only count on playing 10... sometimes you'll go deeper if you have foul trouble / etc. PG wise Rittenhouse is clearly better. Faster, more athletic, better defense, better ball handling / passing and stamina.

I see you didn't recruit Lisle, but I would monitor his non-growth this year and decrease next year. He might be a guy you can cut if you need to. He has decent outside shooting so if it stays around 70 and his speed / athletism stays about where it is he could be useful. I have gotten good use out of 1 WE players, you just need to realize that if they likely won't gain anything by the time they graduate.
