I've read somewhere that if you've made a promised start/minutes to a player who get hurt, you can safely put him on rest and he won't get upset.  He'll only get upset if you play him off the bench or less than the promised minutes.

So here's my question:  Can you set a guy to rest for the whole season if you've promised a start/minutes to, without him getting upset?  Or does he have to be injured for this to come into play?

in order to be set to rest a player has to be injured. You can however just leave the player off the depth chart entirely, and as long as you don't run out of players due to foul trouble or extreme fatigue he won't play. If he doesn't play at all, he won't realize he isn't starting or averaging certain minutes.

I've never heard of this before? That's interesting.

I've tried  this and after about 8-10 games he still realized that promises weren't being kept and his WE dropped about 30 points.

So if this does work, it's not 100% certain.

I've only tried it once, so far it is working.

(If that shows different info for people who aren't me - promised start and 30 minutes to win close battle. Hasn't played, hasn't complained. 25 games in to season.Thinking about trying to push my luck and throw on a redshirt right before rollover and see how that goes too...)

what we need is a dropdown menu that lets you increase the odds that the guy will get hurt!

Did he play a single minute before he complain?  After he complained, did you comply with his request?  Did the WE go back up?  Did he transfer?  Did it affect your reputation?

Pretty sure that guy will leave your team at the end of the year once he realizes his promises were not met. Not 100% sure though.

wasn't on depth chart and never played a minute.

Right around 6-7 games into non-conf I got the following email:
I'm guessing it's not easy being a coach with everyone asking you for everything, but I'm only seeing 0 minutes of court time now - you did promise that I'd get to play at least 15 minutes a game - I'm assuming that's going to change soon?

I think his WE dropped over 25 points.  But after about 8-10 starts his WE was back to normal.

It's easier to get away with picking and choosing.  If you get the guy about 15-16 starts he'll almost never say a word and usually will actually increase his WE a few points over the course of the season.
