In my first year of recruiting, I recruited a couple PFs that I now realize are SFs and are no use to my team. I'm considering cutting one of them before the start of next year, but I know this will negatively affect my loyalty. My question is this being my first time doing such a thing how much will this affect my loyalty and how much of an affect will it have on recruiting.

Thanks.

not as much of an impact as keeping bad players on your team as you're trying to build it.

pull the trigger.

will affect reputation, not loyalty

if these guys are good players, consider finding a way to use them - good players are hard to get - do you have some SF who can slide over to the 4 spot?

- if you cut a couple of them you risk a third player leaving just because they are his buddies

also, you should understand - you can cut them in the next recruiting cycle - before signings start - but you will NOT get budget for those slots - so you would be trying to fill slots by spreading $ over more spots

I dont have direct experience, but I think the effect on recruiting of a drop in rep will be not too big - others can comment

I've cut lots of players in the past and like bow2dacowz says, the impact isn't as much as keeping bad players.

This season is the first time I've ever had a player transfer on me when I cut someone else.  I'd just taken over at George Fox, had 1 scholarship to fill and thought I could cut a low-ATH/DEF big to make room in case I could squeeze in 2 recruits, or at least get extra budget money next season.  I was surprised when one of my better guards just jumped ship saying he couldn't trust me after I'd cut the big.

My rep is still A+ (I hadn't recruited the guy I cut), my loyalty is A- after a lateral move from Bethany.

This may have been my imagination but it just seemed to me that recruits were not dropping to me with B prestige as much as they did at Bethany with C+ prestige - 2 drops out of 100 phone calls just doesn't seem normal, but who knows.  If there's something to that, I suspect it was the fact that I was a first-year coach at a new school.  Shrug.
