I see your guys' point to a degree, but I have a pretty damn decent M2M Def for a D11 team (66 total and 71 for starters) and at 20 seconds there is still enough time to force a steal or a TO if it's done quickly without fouling. I understand the 6 seconds and down by 3 part, I was more refering to the 20 seconds and down by 2 part and the SIM engine not following my settings.
Your team probably went for the takeaway at the inbound pass, didn't get it, then fouled. Really don't see anything wrong with this at all. 20 seconds on the clock, as long as the opposing team gets the ball pass the half court line, they can just run off the clock. Fouling is the right move here.
If the engine simply sticks by whatever setting the user put up, imagine the complaints should a coach set his setting as intentional foul, down by 3 or more:
"omg, there was only 6 seconds left in game with my team down by 1, but we didn't foul. wtf is this."
The engine made the right choice, the choice that any basketball team would make.
