 this past year i played him mostly at pf or sf but could he guard all 5 positions

no.  but since he can't play all 5 spots when you have the ball, what would be the point of trying even if he could?

I think his thought is can he play this guy anywhere on the court to cover their top scorer.

i get that.  but if he hurts you when you have the ball then its not worth it IMO.  better off playing him in a position he can actually play and taking advantage of using DT

Yea I agree he could cover anyone defensively but putting him at G would kill the team offensively.
