Man, this is really rough. I went to the Univ. of Md. this morning, and the word is that I have multiple myeloma, and thanks to a certain chromosome, Chromosone 17, a particularly hard to tame strain. I go to see my local oncologist Thursday, to begin a regimen of chemo, both oral and intravenous, and steroids. This is a strengthening regiman for the transplant. It is really hard to accept, because I had been sickeningly healthy, the rest of my life. Thanks to all here for all your well wishes, and the free teams. Please know that I appreciate it. Please remember me in your prayers, and ket me win a game every once in a while:).

You'll beat it, pfattkatt.  Hang tough.  I have good vibes.  The team you inspired is off to a 6-3 start although they had a rough afternoon today.  You get the tip o' the cap because the team includes four of your favorite players -- Wally Schang, Sammy Strang, Chief Roseman and Count Campau.

My thoughts are with you, and I feel your pain, pfattkatt.  Although my situation is not as serious as yours, I too started chemo this summer after major surgery (removed all my duodenum, as well as parts of my stomach, liver, pancreas, and intestines) - and like you, I've been disgustingly healthy the first half-century of my life.  When this is through, we'll start an anti-Cancer theme league together!

absolutely, pinotfan. You have been good competition, and always a class guy, an asset to every league we have been in together

I am so sorry to hear of your condition. You will continually be in my prayers. It will be easy to pray for you because I check this site atleast 3 times a day which can help me to remember to pray for you.  You taught me some good things about this game and I thank you for that.  Peace and all Good - Matt

I finished my 1st (of 4) rounds of chemo this past Friday. Next round begins 11/8. After we finish chemo, we go fo the transplant, then an experimental treatment that they say I am an ideal candidate for. I feel much better than all this sounds. I am pretty much pain freee, the chemo leaves me perpetually tired, but naps are pleasant diversions. spending time among cancer patients does give one a different perspective on life.

I know - as I say, if it weren't for the chemo I'd feel great!
