promotions/demotions and development Topic

i promoted a young pitcher (reliever) to the bigs at the end of last season for the first time; he's 24 and around w/in ~6 of his OVR, according to my scouting.

he's been getting lit up in the early goings, and i was wondering: if this continues, and i demote him to AAA, will it hurt his chances of developing further? or vice versa?

for some reason i'm having trouble using the WIS clipboard, so i can't link to his page. any general advice?

thanks in advance

Referring to  Daric Roundtree? Most of his ratings are good but those splits aren't ... and you have him pitching in an obscene hitters park. Plus, eight innings over six games is hardly a fair test. I suspect if you demote him he'll take a ratings hit, but I'm not sure it's such a big loss. First, I'd take the team off AI and manage the pitching staff yourself... get some suggestions from veteran owners regarding settings. A guy like that, in a Long A or B role, I'd have his pull setting on 3. In a park like that, really you're just  hoping your pitchers hold things together long enough for your offense to get something done.

yes, Daric Roundtree, and yes, obscene hitters park. not sure why my AI was turned on -- i log in daily and i've actually set the lineups, player settings, managerial leanings, etc that are current myself. he is on a 3 pull rating, the lowest rating but for 2 of my pitchers (who i've assigned 2s).

i will be patient. just trying to get a better sense of how demotions/promotions work against/in favor of young guys. roundtree is, bad splits aside, currently one of my top-3 near-ML-ready pitching prospects.

thanks!

Roundtree is in his 5th year.  He's not going to improve much, if at all, regardless of playing time.    If you demote him, he'll likely take a hit.  He might get some back with regular innings but, if he fits into your long-term plan, I'd throw him at mop-up and wait it out.
