Recruiting backup options Topic

So I know that in case the options of the recruits doesn't fall through as expected, then they call you back if you are their backup options. What I want to ask is if one call to the recruit is enough to get them to call you back if you are their backup options, or if I make more phone calls it will improve my chances of getting the recruits.

If I understand your question correctly, one call is all that's required to find out if you're a backup option.  Then, you have two choices:  1) Patiently wait until they drop to your level. At that time, they'll contact you again. This is called 'dropdown'.   2) Spend money on them to persuade them to consider you earlier.  This is called 'pulldown.'

You would use scouting trips as the mechanism to spend money on the recruit ... usually somewhere between 10-15 will pull down most recruits, but some have taken more than 20.

If a recruit is already considering another school he may not drop at all.  I once spent about 50 scouting trips to figure that out.

Another question I got, say there is a player you like as a potential dropdown who considers you as his backup option. If I call him earlier he will reject me most likely, but will that help me to recruit him still if there are other schools who are also his backup options. I had a player dropdown to me, but another school of the same prestidge as I am has him in his considered list. If we have the same prestige then he must have dropdown at the same time as I did, I'm just wondering how the other school got him to consider them

I'm not sure I'm 100% clear, but if you call a guy, and he outright rejects the callw ithout a backup message, it's all over for him.

There's also a thing called "pull-downs", and in interest of teaching a man to fish, there are conversations about that on the front page of the forum right now.
