You would have been better off to unredshirt him after his WE dropped. It would have gone back up. I have never had a player leave before, but with that big of a drop, he might be a good candidate. If the season is still going on, I'd be tempted to restore his eligibility. Worst case scenario, if you don't want him, you could always cut him before next season if you can fill his roster spot with money from the other scholarships you have available. You'll take a hit on reputation though. In looking at your team, with only 5 games being played this year so far, I'd definitely unredshirt him. Even if you keep him for both years, he's not a terrible player.
Well, restoring some semblance of class balance is a priority for me. With 8 juniors, I stand to lose a ton of $ when they graduate (Simmy was doing hella recruiting!). I could cut him, but then I get no money with which to replace him and take a prestige hit. Or I keep him for 2 years to ride the bench and then suck down a $30k loss.
So that's why I made the redshirt call. This way if he leaves, I get the money. And if he stays, I can play him for a couple years (hopefully sparingly) as my recruits develop into a team that will smack down those ninnies over at Bradley for seasons to come. Anyway, to get his head right for the time being, Mr. Gibbs will be doing a half-hour of conditioning and a half-hour of study hall every night.
