8th overall pick in the draft, he rejected 1st offer and wants more money, which is not the issue, just wondering if i should sign him or let him walk and see what i can get with the comp pick next season. It is borderline for me he will be ok , not great though, I could get alot better player next year or get burned

 if his VR or velocity were higher it would be a no brainer, but those 2 numbers make it a gamble IMO.

I think it depends on your scounting and his make up..  Will he even get close to those PROJ's? If so he looks decent enough for a 9th pick. His high control, GB and pitches should make up for his average VR.

As always with this sort of thing, it's a question only you can answer.    If those were current, he's SP1 or SP2 on 4 of my teams.    He doesn't even make the rotation on the other one.   Where does he fall on that specific team(which I assume isn't very good since you had 8th pick)?    Will you have more money in scouting next season?  Are you willing to wait one more year for a prospect to develop?  What are your long-term plans for that team?  The list goes on.

Why wouldn't you sign him?  What else are you going to do with the Bonus?  You'll lose 1/2 of it if you transfer...and what are yu going to be able to buy elsewhere with that lower amount.

Need to see current ratings to judge this.  If he is really going to get to those projections he's a no-brainer to sign.

Its also a question of will next years crop be more fruitfull. Some will take that gamble and some wont/
