Why can't this guy hit? Topic

If every pitch was going to be thrown every 10 seconds, in theory you could catch up to all of them if it takes less than 10 seconds to prepare yourself to swing.   And if they're all going to be thrown in the same exact place, you should be able to hit them all pretty solidly if you can repeat your swing.

To be clear, because I know a nerd is gonna say "Yeah, but.....", the faster the pitch, the less room for error.   But it is just timing and repetition.    Can you hit a golf ball every time?  Sure.   But the bigger error you make, the less solid the hit becomes.   Same with a pitch in the same exact location at the same exact speed over and over again at the same exact increment of time.

I concede.  If you can find a machine that puts the ball in the exact same place everytime, with the exact same velocity everytime, you would have the ability to place an object in it's path.

Having worked at a batting cage and having very little baseball experience I can say that Mike is 100% correct.

Mike is partially correct.  Hitting is about timing.  I have played plenty of baseball being ex pro and was a pitcher.  When young I could touch 92 and that is pretty sizzling when standing at the plate.  I have stood at the plate with that velocity coming at me as well, and it doesnt make you comfortable.

Pitching machine, I have put at 100 (the fastest it would go) and stood in there, and it scared the hell out of me.  They were not all grooved, but pretty much over the plate.  The damn hissing is what scared me.

He could eventually time 95, and make contact on some.  But it sure as hell wouldn't be pretty.
