Hi folks,

Have a staff that has pitched pretty well for two straight seasons, but for some reason I induce the lowest number of double plays in the league for the same two years. I'm the highest in K, so that might have something to do with it, but it doesn't necessarily have to, as there is a wide array of k/9 and GIDP differences.

Does anyone know how I could increase the number of GIDP that a pitching staff can induce? Is there any one thing I should look at? Thanks in advance.

I have the 5th highest franchise ranking for that as well as the third highest statistical rating on that this season, yet the 2nd least GIDP in the league this year.

Also, bad control, pitches, and splits-- the more baserunners, the more DPs.

Seriously, if your staff has yields a low OBP AND has a high K rate you'll have low DPs, and it doesn't matter.  Don't sweat it.

Your 2B/SS look adequate.   Unless there's a problem beyond DP, like your staff is giving up tons of runs, I wouldn't worry about it either.

If you have less runners getting on base, you'll have less DPs.  Your pitching staff has the fourth best OBP against in your world, so the lack of DPs is an indicator of a good staff.

Sounds fine. I wasn't really worried so much as just curious. I just found it kind of weird.

The biggest factor in DPs in runners speed. The second biggest is your 2Bs range.
