Shouldn't a player be considering you if they send that email?  Yes, I have a schollie offered.

Remember that your e-mails are at the time your effort is applied and other teams efforts can be applied after your effort.

If another team puts in effort which is applied after yours, it can shift a recruit's opinion during that turn.

I WISH they would give you an overall feeling for the recruit for each turn as well as the mail for each effort.

But wouldn't we both be considered then?  If the kid wants to sign, doesn't it stand to reason he'd be considering signing with me?  Or am I putting too much logic into a canned response?

Not if ur recruiting actions were processed first. He was considering u when he sent out that response. Then the other team's recruiting actions were processed and knocked u completely off.

He went from not considering me to signing on the 1st cycle after a 15 mpg promise and a start promise.  The whole thing seems weird to me. If someone else was in the picture, I feel as though we both should have been considered by him if he's at a point where he's ready to sign.  Ready, to me, is past considering on the interest scale.  Evidently HD doesn't agree with me.

udm, I agree that it's a bit of a shortcoming, but you just have to remember that the only messages that matter are the schollie emails. Just disregard the exact verbiage in the other ones.

If all else is equal, who wins the battle? The player who spends the most or are there other factors?

ALL else being equal (meaning prestige, distance, coach ratings, etc), spending is the only factor, but quality governs over quantity. so, you can outspend your opponent but if coach 2 spends his hard earned recuiting cash on better recruiting tools than coach 1, coach 2 will edge out coach 1. easy example: coach 1 spends $20 on one coach call and one phone call. coach 2 spends $10 on a promised start. if all else - including balance of recruiting efforts - are exactly the same, the latter will win out. the calculations get more complicated as you get into evals and visits. either sm vet coaches or mine the forums to get an idea of how the efforts stack up against each other.
