bit of history..  Matty was Harry "The Hat" Walker's prize batting pupil.   Harry tried in vane to convert Jimmy Wynn to his hitting style ala Matty when Harry was with the Astros as a hitting instructor

I had an exchange recently with an owner in one of my progs concerning Matty Alou.  He'd posted in the forums that Matty was on the trading block.  I offered him Bill Sudakis for Alou, and he sent me a sitemail saying: "I'm going to need more than that, since Matty was my favorite player when I was growing up." 

To which I responded: "Well, Bill Sudakis is my biological father!"

Anyway, I thought it was funny that someone would use their "personal relationship" with a player they were shopping around to get a better deal.
