Advanced Scouting question Topic

So I'm taking the advice of most of the vets around and am starting to lower my advanced scouting budget towards 0.

I have a question about this... In my first league, I lowered it from 14 to 10 and now I'm seeing some really confusing things in regards to projected ratings.

I have a couple of pitchers who had some pretty high ceilings last year, but now their projected ratings are abysmal.  All three pitchers last season gained more than 5 points in the vsLH and vsRH columns... and this year, they're projected ratings are only 1 or 2 ahead of the vsLH and vsRH.  All 3 are young (less than 21) and I would fully expect them to continue to progress.

My question is this.... can prospects exceed projected ratings?  If one of the pitchers gains 2 points in the vsLH and/or 1 point in the vsRH, he'll exceed the projected ratings.  Is this possible?

Yes.  When that happens, you'll see the projected rating in those categories increase to match current.

Keep in mind:: projections are not a cap.  They're just a fuzzy approximation of what the underlying true projections may be.  The further from 20 you are, the fuzzier they are.  What you see could be higher, or could be lower, than the actual true projection.

Bottom line: trust your old 14 A/S projections better than the current 10 A/S projections.

Thanks.  That's what I was assuming happened, but I kind of freaked out when I saw projections that were extremely lower than before and very, very close to current.  I not sure I can remember a time in which a prospect crossed from current to projected, but these guys surely are going to.

Thanks for the information.

Keep in mind that the variance affects individual ratings and not the entire set. That is, your projections won't be uniformly high or low across all the ratings categories.

Once you start working your way down in ADV, you also need to start ignoring projections.    If you're going to pay attention to them, don't lower them to 0.
