The following guys are all now in their 4th ML season.  Do I have to sign them long term now or will they again be in arbitration next year?

Whats the benefits of signing them LT now or waiting?

Vega (8.5 ARB or 9 x 4)

Simon (7.4 or 8.9 x 4)

Cedeno (4.6 or 5.6 x2)

Bristow (4.4 or 6.5 x 5)

Ramsey (5.2 or 6.25 x 3)

and my other question is..  Will these guys sign 5 year deals now even though some of them are demanding between 2-4 year contracts?

Arb twice, then sign long term.  I think the chances of the player signing after being arb'ed three times is very slim.

The conventional wisdom is, I think, to sign long term in the 4th season (second arb cycle). If you take guys to their last arb year before offering a long term contract some will refuse the extension.

As for length, all will sign five years if you want, just make the annual average the same as they initially requested. But they will not sign for a shorter term than requested.
