Oh, good.  It's judgment day.  Marcstuart, I noticed that you have David Ortiz on one of your teams.  You should get rid of him.  He's a cheat.  And get rid of Gary Sheffield while you're at it.  Another juicer.   And I hope you don't ever draft Ty Cobb, a bigot, Babe Ruth, a compulsive womanizer, Joe Jackson, a cheat, Mickey Mantle, a lush, or Pete Rose, a degenerate gambler.

You're going to tell me the owners are "more real" than the players?  I don't know who any of the owners are in real life.  They could be loan sharks or pedophiles for all I know.  I can only relate to them in their SIM context.  I might not ask Micki to drive my kids to school (if I had kids), but she was a helluva lot of fun on the Forums and a helluva good competitor as a SIM owner, and that's the only way I can relate to her here.  I, for one, will miss her, and I hope she comes back soon.

Not soft on the subject.  My Dad was an alcoholic.  But I bet he would have knocked the cover off the ball in SIM.

Done now.
I wasn't going to respond but I just couldn't let it go.

I'm sorry thunder, but I've never disagreed more with a post on these forums. I'm glad you enjoyed competing  and interacting with micki. That in no way excuses drunken driving. Neither does Peter Rose, Ty Cobb, Ortiz, Jim Leyritz, or anyone else.Of course the owners here are more real. I don't actually own Mickey Mantle. I am just using a set of numbers with his name attached to it. Yes, it represents a bad guy. Owning a bad guy in a pretend game is not the same as getting multiple DUIs. If you consider her a friend and want to stand by her during her troubles, that's good. It still doesn't excuse the behavior that put herself, and more importantly others, in danger. I echo Marcstuart's sentiments and hope that no one, including micki, was hurt.

"Oh, good.  It's judgment day."

If you don't like what Marcstuart said, then don't be a hypocrite in judging (discerning) him.  Otherwise, looks like your pronouncement is correct, "It's judgment day."

"I don't know who any of the owners are in real life."

Um, unless Micki is lying, she volunteered real information about herself so you do know something REAL-ly significant about her.

"I can only relate to them in their SIM context."

Why?  Micki isn't relating to us in a 'SIM context'.  Micki gave the WIS forum real-life information unrelated to the SIM.

Regarding your point that drafting immoral players is inconsistent with Marcstuarts view on Micki's DUI's:  This SIM (dealing in numbers) is about games that include players with moral deficiencies; their being drafted here (in a SIM) has no moral impact on anything pertaining to yours or their real life (other than your amusement and wasted time).  It's just numbers.  Much has been said in these forums and elsewhere about any of these players real-life failures and Marcstuart did the same about Micki's.

I don't hate Micki,  I don't know her other than what she volunteered herself, but Micki, give the alcohol up (or whatever poison you used), it isn't worth it.  And if you were under the influence of WIS  , well then, yes, give it up!  Be well.

As socali so eloquently stated: "It's just numbers" here in the SIM.  How you can get passionate about this game (statistical exercise) we're playing here is beyond me.  The names attached to the numbers are just labels to make it more fun.  We're all deluding ourselves about this whole romantic notion that you actually have George Brett batting against Walter Johnson.  It's all a big fantasy folks.
But what IS real is when someone posts about dealing with a terminal illness or other real life or tragic situation made easier by these games and the solace they find here.  And that's really nice.  What is real is someone admitting to less than socially acceptable behavior and seeing responses that either trivialize or glorify that behavior.  In this case (Micki and her DWI's)  I find the responses to be sophomoric at best and repulsive at worst.  I certainly don't hate "Micki," or whomever she (or a he with a warped sense of humor) really is (for all we know she isn't even real.)  But that's just my opinion and why I like coming here.  Everybody has their say at the end of the day.

....and in Micki's case, the courts had their say ...at the end of the day.

She didn't have to tell us what she told us. She could have left it vague and incomplete. She instead chose to reveal something about herself to us. Had she thought that we would be passing judgement on her maybe she wouldn't have been so truthful. Getting a chance to see beyond our posts who we actually are is interesting and humanizes this site a bit more. I like that. Alcoholism is a sickness. Lots of it in my family. I know all about it. DWI is a crime and shouldn't be tolerated. In her case it isn't being tolerated. Kicking her while she is down is bad form in my opinion. It is the holiday season and she is going off to jail or rehab or whatever. That must suck.

I'll pretend I didn't see truemen's post because I'm about to eat breakfast

Nobody is questioning Marcstuart 's right to say whatever he wants in these forums.  I only question his need to kick Micki in the butt on her way out the door, but I have this thing about maintaining a civil discourse in our society.  Let's just say the quality of mercy was a little strained.

If you didn't like the pickle story, don 't laugh.  You're hardly alone in being scornful of what Vegas "hostesses" do for a living.  And there isn't a single word in this thread condoning, trivializing or glorifying drunken driving.  But "good riddance" is rarely an appropriate response to a woman saying goodbye, especially a woman you don't know and, at the very least , it is lacking in compassion and totally bereft of humanity.

As for the responses in this thread being "sophomoric at best and repulsive at worst," I plead guilty to sophomoric.  I've been sophomoric at least since puberty and most likely since birth, and I wear it like a badge.

As for repulsive, I can only say that I envy your ability to occupy the moral high ground and see the world in absolute terms of good and bad, right and wrong and black and white.  I will be stuck forever in my shades of gray.   But even if your own life is simonpure, let's hope that your friends and loved ones can avoid the moral lapses that would allow others to tell them good riddance.

Am I the only one on this site that thinks that 90% of the posters in this thread are all the same psychotic person that has no life and pretends to have conversations with other people that is actually himself?
