Strange Option Decline or Normal Topic

League leaders were up on home page, noticed player who used to be on my team. looked at contract and noticed that he was signed to a two year 3.9 per deal in season 21 he then declined the option on season 22 and then had contract renewal season 22 for 500,000. doesn't seem right to me, but wanted to put it out there to see if anyone has seen this before?

Not that specifically but I think most of us have seen strange option declines.    A player on the downside declining a 10m option year and asking for 4m in FA sort of thing.   I'm not sure the option program makes good business decisions.

Yes I've seen this before.  Once the contract runs out, he will be renewed at 500K since he made more than the league minimum.  He was a pre-arbitration guy, so declining the option doesn't release him.  He will go back down to 327K if he is sent to the minors at the end of the season.
