I've talked to a few coaches and opinions on this matter seem to range on who I talk to. Some coaches set it up while others just leave everything at 0 and it work its self out. What do you prefer to do with player distribution?

 I want my best players shooting the most.  The only time I've used all 0 was when I had a young team and I wanted to see who performed the best.

I always set it up according to ability. I don't want my 11 LP and 17 PE SF shooting the ball 15 times. I want the SG with 78 PE and 69 LP taking the ball that much. The SF only needs a handful of shots. 

Basically, I set it up so that LeBron James, not Udonis Haslem, gets the ball the most.

I never understood this.  I don't think anyone would let the SIM do their scheduling for them.  Or set up their practice plan.  Or set their lineup.  Because the SIM would do everything worse than a human owner could do it themselves.  Have you ever seen how the SIM sets up a practice plan before you get to it at the beginning of the season?  Very generic.  I just assume the distro would be the same.  Not taking into account your offense, the opponent's defense or individual defensive ratings.  I could be wrong, but I would just never leave it to the computer.  Besides the fact that it's part of the fun of being the coach.  I pay $12.95, so I want to do it.

Back in the day ...the SIM DID do the scheduling for us.

I tend to give the guys with a lower offensive IQ a much lower Dist.

I usually set my team to zero in the two preseason games because I want to see who the engine thinks is my best shooters. I don't like to fight the engine if I can help it. I've had guys with low ratings who played way above what one would expect and I like to identify those guys at the start of the season and I don't want to overrate / underrate players on my own bias. Once the non-con starts, I do set my distribution though. Mainly because yes, the sim will have guys taking shots that don't need to a lot of the time. Setting the preseason to zero is just another data point for my coaching plan (what there is of it).
