in D3?  I just had a guy who I thought I could get for a specific amount (he was considering as D3 sim but had the "not so tight" FSS messages) but so far it didn't happen for me and doesn't seem extraordinarily close.  I still have a decent amount of money to burn but will obviously spend it elsewhere or save it in reserve if I can't be relatively certain I'll win this recruit.

Anybody?  Signings started today (this is in Knight) and I'm in for 7 HVs and a CV.  Still losing.  Might be waiting 'till tonight to see what the new FSS says before I make my next move, but I'd like some input on this if anybody has any.

I'm asking exactly what the thread title asks - what is the threshold above which a school would be considered "tight" in D3.  I want to know how much effort people have needed to put in to win against a non-tight D3 sim.  I would have thought 7 HVs and a CV would do it, but the most recent scholarship message isn't even an uber-close one.  So how much more might it cost me to win this recruit?

I could be off by a mile, but I'm thinking with a message like "XXX likes him, but he may not be a priority for them." You could be looking something around 4-5k worth of effort if the player is close to you, so around 14-18 HVs.

I would have thought 10-12 in D3, but your estimate is looking like it's probably closer.

there are only 2 ranges on the FSS message. they are huge ranges. you can't just nail it down like 10-12 or 14-18... it could be 4 home visits or it could be 20. for sims, if you can look at their players and figure out if this is their top target or not, that is huge - their top target is so much more expensive to take than 2nd.

also note that because with higher prestige, you get more credit for your actions, at lower divisions, it is really hard to get to the tight FSS message. 30 home visits might not do it. so that message is more or less meaningless.

I'm pretty sure the cutoffs aren't the same at every level, although I could be wrong...
