I am not there yet but wonder how schools located in Hawaii or PR recruit. I would think because of distance they would have to stay island bound, or not?

Not necessarily.  I was helping out a friend and did the recruiting for his D3 team this past cycle.  One of the guys I targeted - about a 460 overall with lots of highs - was snapped up by D2 Chaminade in Hawaii, at a range of 3700 miles.

The rest of that recruiting class was all Hawaii except for the single guy he landed from SD.

Since the player would not have been a pulldown for Chaminade, 1 HV would have cost him $1500.  It's high but not an impossible cost.  And I would think CA and OR players would be a bit cheaper.

At PR I didn't like the recruiting their is really not much talent and I never signed a PR player, just looked for dropdowns this was sometimes frustrating because you couldn't do pulldowns so I didn't like recruiting on the island.
