Is this still pretty accurate? I have these guys that will be free agents next season. Anyone want to guess what, if any, compensation they'll get if signed?
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Derrick Incaviglia
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Luis Hernandez
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Mac Jackson
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Billy McFeely (note: has a player option for next season at $3.5M, if he declines is he eligible?)
I was thinking about trading Incaviglia. However, if he and these other guys get me compensation picks next year, maybe I should hold onto all of them and invest heavily into the draft next season. Any thoughts?
It is hard to tell what types you will get with out knowing the rest of the FA Market. Some season have better players then others. One way to improve your chances to get A/B types in changing their positions. Like McFreely mostly will be a Type B as a starter but if you shift his role to the bullpen he will be a type A most likey. With the position players I would check next season FA and see were they would rate as type Bs like you want. I think that Hernandez would find a team as a Type A if one of the offensive groups have a poor market. I also think that McFeely would have no problem finding a team as a type A. On thing to consider is all type A comp picks are taken before all of the type Bs. So as far as drafting the better players you will want to be higher. And Players like McFeely don't have very many bidders so they sign faster. As far as seating for the comp round it is first signed first pick. Now if you want to talk about plucking good draft picks in the comp round that is a whole different thing. I hope this make sense and is not just some rambling of a mad man.
It is absolutely astounding that someone with 27 seasons of HBD would post something this totally incorrect.
1) Type A/B comp is beased on all players in the world, not this year's FA class. Top 20% in a position group are Type A, 21-40% are Type B.
2) Type A/B comp is based on the position group Simmy thinks they should be in. For position players, go to the change position screen and check Simmy's Recs based on current ratings to see where a guy will fall.
3) Type A picks do not all sign before Type B picks. Seriously?
4) The draft order in the supplemental round is not based on the order in which the players were signed. It is based on, first, the Type (all As go ahead of all Bs), second, the number of picks of each Type per team (all teams with at least 1 Type A pick will pick before any team makes a second Type A pick; same for Type Bs), and third, draft order (the team with the highest natural draft position amongst teams with at least 1 Type A pick will get the first pick of the supplemental round, and so on).
5) "So as far as drafting the better players you will want to be higher." Did you really just say that if you want to get a better player in the draft, it helps to have a higher draft pick? Do you really think anyone does not know that much?
