DII beginner recruiting Topic

Just took over my first DII squad, Johnson C Smith. Some noob questions at DII recruiting-- are DI pulldowns as popular as DII pulldowns when you're a DIII school?

Should I be staying local with my C prestige?

Any help appreciated

There is not much difference between D2 and D3, you still want to build your team mostly through dropdowns and pulldowns from D1.  Your best bet is still to stay somewhat local but you can spread out a bit further than you would in D3.

As for what D1 players you can get, same thing as when you were in D3 going after D2. Send some calls and see who you can get a call back from. In general at a C prestige you should get a backup from most 155-200 position ranked players but that can vary by position and by season. Don't bother with any starred players or top 100 players obviously.

D3 and D2 are quite similar. Main difference is, you can afford to get into battle and you can recruit farther (although, I think you can successfully recruit nationally in D3).

One thing to note, there aren't much differences between low end D1 dropdowns and D2 recruits. They are all around 460-520 in rating, so I would go for more towards potential. If a D2 recruit potential is good, grab him rather than a 520 rated D1 recruit with mediocre potential.

And a word of caution. In d3, you can win battles against D2 teams. In D2, you will not win any battles against D1 teams.

At C prestige, you will see players showing up as D1 pulldowns who will actually appear to be D2 players to someone with, say, an A prestige.  As your prestige goes up the level of D2 player you see will also rise.  Also, higher rated players will be cheaper to recruit with higher prestige.
